Who has the best nick name in sports?
Deion "Primetime" Sanders
"Ickey" Woods
Charles Barkley-"The Round Mound of Rebound"
What do you think?
-
I've always like 'The Wizard of OZ' Ozzie Smith
I also like Pernell 'Sweetpea' Whitaker
There IS William 'The Refridgerator' Perry
-
I think one who earned his nickname was Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns". Since he earned it, I'll consider his one of the best.
-
Robert Parish....."The Chief".
-
Charles Barkley and Rick Mahorn....
Thump & Bump.....
Their brief time in Philly together.
-
Another one who earned his nickname: "The human highlight film", Dominique Wilkins
-
Vincesanity
Agent 0
"Magic"
and of course
" Air" Jordan
-
What am I thinking....
I'm from Philly.....
Julius "Dr. J" Erving!!!!!
Whoa....almost made a serious mistake.....

And, since you're from Philly, why didn't you mention "The Answer"?
-
Ooohhhhh......
That hurt.....
I forgot.....
I'm gonna lose my Philly card for sure.
But he's in Denver now.....
Outta sight....outta mind..... ;)

That's what you keep telling yourself. But there's no way to quickly forget someone who poured his heart and soul into the franchise like AI did.

Man....ain't that the truth.....
When they traded AI...it killed this city.....
and the thing is.....he actually wanted to stay....
He loved it here....dude was a god up here......
the fans loved him....
Now he did have some issues with showing up for practice...
And some off the court problems with the law....
But when he stepped on the court.....He gave 110%....no questions asked.
Another great move on the part of Philly sports front offices.

"The Mailman"
"Lights Out".

Nope. Nor did I call Dennis Rodman "The Worm".
Honestly, aside from the classic nicknames, I don't use any of these new-school names. For the most part, they're stupid. The Truth, The Matrix, The This, The That, The Other, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, blah blah blah.

I didn't like him or his nickname. I'm glad that his attempt to bandwagon his way to a title with the Lakers failed miserably.
For those of you familiar with Darko Milicic, us folks from Detroit called him the "Human Victory Cigar", because he'd only get PT when victory was well in hand. LOL
