Jtoomer got ordained the other night to a minister,man that slipped my mind.. when he was on stage recieving his sword and license the boy brought tears to my eyes...J is real faithful,humble and loves Gods word..what i admire most about J is that a few months ago,he pledged a certain ammount to his church and when he seen that his Job's income made things hard..J went and picked up a SECOND JOB just so he keep the VOW which he vowed to pay..now if that aint being FAITHFUL then i dont know what is..i dont know to many cats that would actually take on another JOB just not to go back on the promise he made to the LORD..people forget little things like that HE sees and blesses us for it... so CONGRATS JTOOMER and may many more blessing follow you and ur FAM...

First of all you should re-read your own words...youre tearing yourself down and justifying it by saying you have the Holy Ghost. All Im saying to you lil bro is that we promote LEARNING here! Youre bragging about how much you dont know! You think as long as someone has the Holy Ghost, we should praise everything they do? Youre trying to justify his clip by his personal relationship with Jesus.
Further more, I havnt even critiqued the man and youre all bent out of shape! Youve been on this board long enough to know what clips will get a positive response and which ones will get bashed.
It doesnt matter how many chops someone can do or cant do, its more about accuracy, execution, confidence, punctuality, and discipline. Play what you know and play it well. There is no excuse for posting videos with sloppy technique cause thats not what we promote here. I want JToomer to get better, but you will only hender him with your false sense of encouragement.

Ok....i pondered on both of you guys p.o.v. Diligent is simply saying that he wishes some ppl will show C/C or whatever in a more loving and kindly fashion, which most would think that ppl would do because of the Gospel in LGM. Also, it would indeed encourage members to practice harder instead of the bringing to anger by Sheens seemingly smart remarks. Now Sheen is a open minded person.......lol, he seems like the bad guy but in fact he gives tough love and wants the members to improve to get to where they want. In my opinion Sheen will get you prepared for the real world because he'll make you tough. People arent going to show loving and kindness all the time so we all have to learn how to take some blows and hey......what doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

If I wasn't Jtoomer I would have probably said the same thing, "2:53" seriously, that was funny ( I read it before i watched the vid, i thought something really happened at 2:53. :o) I told Diligent not to post it I knew it was garbage & sloppy. Diligent I appreciate your zeal and support, but dude..........this ain't cool. Hey to the LGM family I appreciate everybody on the board and what you have to say, but this was me practicing, as you can tell from the sloppiness, not a LGM exclusive!
With that being said, so you guys can know where I am at......... My father played drums for a bunch of people locally for YEARS! So I grew up around music. I learned the double stroke roll, paradiddle, etc. as a child, but I sarted playing drums at school in the seventh grade and continued until my Sophmore year in High School. THEN, I didn't care to learn how to read music bc I could memorize parts I did enough to get by. One thing I do remember " If you can Count it you can PLAY it" this saying is so true because NOW, all I do is try to count what I heard someone play like BIG MIKE on the OVERCOMERTURE....sick ;D I still can't count that.
So what do I do go start lessons, get a book, dvd, etc. ?/? ?/? I want to be able to count and explain what I do instead of speaking in tongues *play kat boom boom kat on the snare* This is Joshua Toomer and I apporve this message ;D

Again, he was only mirroring your random comment, not attempting to tear anyone down. I believe that he did not mean any malice behind that comment. In fact, I even went back to look at the 2:47 mark. I didn't see any playing at that point, so I figured that you were being your usual silly self.
I'm also looking for a negative comment about jtoomer's clip, and I didn't see one. I understand that everyone wants to hear positive criticism about their playing, but sometimes you need to have a "Simon Cowell" in their life. I know that I was brought under some "Simon Cowell" type leaders in my percussive 'career', and I thank them for that. If it wasn't for their tough love (note the second word in that catch phrase), I would not criticize myself as hard as I do. I also subscribe to that same school of thought, and I feel that someone could grow from that tough love (again, note the second word in that catch phrase).
See, that's the problem - everyone wants to be all "churchy" (pat. pending), but doesn't want to know the truth. Please understand that this is not to say that jtoomer's clip was not good, but just in general. "Churchy" is defined as everything being all good, "God bless ya!", "You sound real good!", et al. It seems that if it's something that isn't "of praise", you're 'hating' (another over used word).
Also, you can't always gather a poster's true emotion while reading the static text. Lighten up, diligent-hands.

Point taken, but you know folk be sounding a hot mess in church and folk say, "Alright, now sang!" or "God used ya!", knowing full well that they sounded bad. That's "churchy". A lot of other examples could be used here, but I hope that you get the point (again).
And yes, everyone is not equipped to handle that tough love. That's where getting to know your fellow posters comes into play.

I normally don't say alot in the drum room because I leave it up to Juse and JFunk to take the beatings, :) , but this is actually the EXACT same thing I was thinking. I keep hearing stuff like this from our musicians as if its a good thing.
To me it like saying "I don't pay my child support, but by the grace of God, they are still eating".

and no 4HISGLORY its not a good thing.. so what i suppose to stop playing because of my down falls..I THINK NOT.. imma play the best way i know how UNTIL i get it together..GOD gets all my credit..i never in my life thought about playing dums NEVER.. till my FATHER BAUGHT a drumset..and for weeks we had no drummer.. and i prayed b4 service one day and told GOD.. IF he TEACHES me, if he gives me the EAR to see and know what im doing if he gives me a sprinkle of SKILLS.. that i will get on that SET and play with my WHOLE HEART..and EVER SINCE THAT DAY.. that is JUST WHAT I BEEN DOING..

I would love it if our people would adapt the simple principle of talking about that which they know, and shutting up when they don't know.

Instead of going off on a rant about that, let me just clear up the two misconceptions discussed here so y'all can get back to the business of drums! ;D
1. Barack Hussein Obama is not Muslim, and has never been Muslim. Barack's father, who had very little involvement in his life, was Kenyan and born into Islam, but was not a devout Muslim. Barack's mother wasn't religious at all. Barack gave his life to Christ decades ago, and has been a faithful member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL, under the leadership of Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Opponents and idiots have perpetuated the rumor that he is Muslim, and just as they hoped, some folks who are too lazy to do their homework took the rumor and ran with it.
2. Barack Obama never ripped up a Bible. He's a Christian who knows the Bible better than some born and raised "saints" I know. He does not study the Qu'ran and he's not a Muslim.
Come on, black people. Let's try to do better. For real.

You can go thru me... It's easier for you to get if anywhere except Cali (where I live) or Texas. Don't ask why, I don't quite get it myself: ?/?. I get Luens because of my relationship with company. The heads are from Brazil. You can't get them in America music stores.... Hit by pm and I'll so what I can do.

anyways MOVING right along.. so now that everybody said what they had to say this thread should be locked and placed on the shelves with the rest of thee locked ones.. it was fun while it lasted.. so what did we learn from this..well this is what i learned... number 1 dont always expect to get a pat on the back for bad or sloppy playing.. 2.dont post video's that are TERRIBLE and then title it EXCLUSIVE.. thats a no no.. 3rd.. we must know and undrstand each other not just as MUSICIANS but as indivisuals..so thank you for coming out and good night...
p.s. AND BLACK dont play with Gods word,if u really wanna discuse that..i'll be more than happy too.. ;D
