Title: Where does music fall into your service?
Post by: vtguy84 on February 24, 2008, 10:40:51 AM
At my church here in Roanoke, service starts with the praise team on a 20 minute clock.  Announcements come next and then the choir sings 2 songs.

At home, the choir does 2 songs at the beginning, and then Pastor starts the service.

Our service starts off with the Praise Team with Praise & Worship.

Then we have a congregational hymn.

Then Pastor has his time with the children.

Then the choir comes with 2 selections before its preaching time.

At both of the churches I plat for, the praise and worship comes first, followed by at least one congregational hymn. then a choir selection, offering, then another choir selection, and sometimes a solo before the message.

depends on how the spirit moves,

usually one of the ministers may come up and start off service with a congregational song or prayer then pastor comes after prayer and talks a little while then we might call for praise service which a lot of music goes into that or the choir may sing. then during offering time soft music is played. and while dad is preaching music may be played so it is very often at our sanctuary. depending on how the spirit may move who knows we may have a service full of music.

Opening scripture that goes with the first praise and worship song

Praise and worship (35 to 45 min.) Our pastor does prayer ministry as part of praise and worship as well as communion on the first Sunday, and we have the operation of the gifts of the Spirit during this time usually because of the freestyle worship format we have.

Announcements

Offering (Choir sings one song during the offering)

Sermon

Altar Call

Call To Worship, then the praise and worship team sings a song, then opening prayer & scripture, praise and worship does like 3 more songs.

Then, in no particular order, we have offering, then sometimes the choir sings 1 or 2 songs. Thats about it, but it depends on how the spirit moves, we have no particular order of service.

this sticks out to me. Anywhoo

After call to worship
Praise and worhsip is 20-25m directly after fill-in music/shout until pastor decides to grab mic)
Pastors wife may have us sing an easy worship song, but not often.
Then I never stop playing, but keep playing talk music until offering which may take 10-15m,
Offering song with praise team
Then more talk music until pastor prays himself into the sermon.
Then more talk music when he's winding down, or is long winded (I get em confused ;)until service is over. which can last 15m

I cant really give a description of how our service goes it varies from Sun to Sun b/c we truly allow GOD to come in.  We do start off with prayer, and then invocation which is one of the ministers singing the song of the Lord, inviting him to come in, from that point the praise team will come up and continue to flow from there.
