Title: Any Musicians From Los Angeles?
Post by: 11111111 on February 26, 2008, 03:25:02 PM
What's the music scene like out there? I know that's a pretty broad question, but I'm leaving much room for what you, personally, think I ought to know...

Every bit of information helps.

Thanks, guys. With all of this helpful information, I should have no problem walking into Crip terrority, wearing red, looking for some cats to shed with.

Sup 1,

I'm in L.A. I mainly play gospel, I play at an 11:00 a.m. service on Sunday and alternate between two S.D.A. churches on Saturday. I also play with the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar Choir, L.A. Chp. Occasionally, I gig with a jazz/old school/blues/reggae/funk band.

As far as the scene in L.A. is concerned, it is a pretty diverse place. On one hand there are a lot of opportunities, but on the other hand, if you don't know the "right people" it's hard to get in. I try to leave it to God to work it out.

Well, I'm not coming out there to find "work", per se - I am very interested in putting together a band, however. That may be easier said that done considering my music isn't genre specific. I know a city that size of LA has to have musicians who're into that type of thing, but I know that most people are specialist's in an genre or two.

I think I'll be unfortunate enough to attract musicians, because I'll have my own studio and a place to rehearse. Of course, nothing is for certain...

If this is who I think it is, you should have one on a lifetime membership.

There has been a lot of stuff going on with me man.  Too much to talk about.  Hit me up.

The board just got a lot more interesting over night.

Are you Adventist or do you just play for the churches? Which Adventist churches do you play for?

I minister at Miramonte S.D.A. and Maranatha S.D.A. Churches. I am not Adventist. Just a plain ole, regular follower of Jesus Christ, just like my Adventist compatriots and my Sunday Church goers
