Title: help need advice!!!
Post by: dcelk on March 30, 2008, 07:49:08 PM
Hello family
I am the director of the music ministry at my church in tennessee and i am having a hard time trying to get my choir members to come to bible study and or Sunday School which is a part of leadership.
Is this a requirement at your church if so how do you make it happen.  They sing well but i feel that we are in disobediance because only a few come and i want God to be pleased with us. I gave them 3 months to get it together but not much has changed i am to meet with them on Wed. Getting people to sing about God is easy but getting them to spend a little more time learning about God in hard.   Please advise!!!!!!!

What is the consequence if they DON'T attend Bible Study or Sunday School?

Do they HAVE to attend both?

Are you enforcing the "no Bible Study, no sing" rule?

FIRST OF ALL ,GOD REQUIRES ORDER TO HELP BUILD HIS KINGDOM. IT'S GREAT TO SEE YOU HAVE THE CHURCH @ HEART & YOU DESIRE THAT EVERYONE ATTEND S.S & B.S. BUT, YOU MUST REALIZE YOUR DEALING WITH ONES WITH THE BURNING, STILL LEARNING, & IT DON'T CONCERN THEM. ANYWHO... YOUR THE AUXILLARY LEADER PLACED IN THIS LEADERSHIP ROLE FOR ORDER IN THE CHOIR .AND COMING TO THE TEACHING CLASSES WOULD DEFINITELY INCREASE THE ANOINTING IN THE SERVICE.BUT PASTOR OF THE CHURCH MUST BE INFORM IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS BECAUSE GOD HAS PLACED HIM AS HEAD  FOR THE PERFECTING OF THE SAINTS,FOR THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY ,EDIFYING,TIL THEY ALL COME IN THE UNITY OF THE FAITH.

No, it isn't a requirement at my church, or any church where I've ever worked.  It's always recommended and anyone who serves in any capacity is always strongly encouraged to attend Sunday School or Sabbath School and Bible Study, but never "required."

Personally, I think that's a bit idealistic and unreasonable.

First, talk with your pastor and let him deal with the issues. But from experience...always make sure those who are singing or playing instruments are being faithful to church. There are certain reasons, sometimes they may not be able to come to all services due to work, sickness, etc. But if they're at walmart or at the park hanging out and missing church...when they could be there...is a problem. Not that those things are wrong...but when your missing services just to be missing.

I can tell you many times, and I don't want to be judgmental in any way but a lot of times, I find it hard to be anointed if you're not faithful.

The Bible says to not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together. I mean you are the ushers of the presence of God for a service and if you have some who are not faithful and then they show up out of the blue and expect to get up and sing...it can really quench the Spirit. And whatever is in their spirit, whether good or bad will flow out into the people.

Just like the Bible says...the anointing flows from the head down...same with the Pastor if the pastor is anointed it will flow into the people...if he/she is cursing and drinking alcohol all the time. They're definitely not gonna be anointed and there will be a bad spirit that's not of God. The same thing w/ musicians!

Just seek the Lord...and stay anointed!

It is not a requirement at my church but rules are rules. Keep in mind that you are dealing with volunteers. Personally, I would not want to regularly attend church more than twice a week if I am volunteering.

ministry is not personal, but mandatory. It is our requirment to serve God, to attend his teachings. i am debating the same thing. why is it so comfortable for Christians to feel that they are not required to attend teachings about which they play, sing or whatever arts ministry that there is. thay makes no sense to me. yes it is a sacrafice to go to church after you have had a full day at work, your kids have to be attended to, and your wife or husband has needs to. but what if God decided to half bless you the way you half go about his business. then we would have a problem because it's FAULTY; not a whole blessing, huh, Christians. well stop giving God half service. by the way, aren't we supposed to yearn for the word, have a zeal for it? TRUE Christians do. no if ands, or buts, about it. I applaud you for enforcing this, it shows that you are after the heart of GOD, not man. true annointing comes from an annointed life and not a perfect rehersal.
