what is salsa, samba or latin jazz
Salsa is played not in 2/4 beat but in 2/2 beat 2/4 will be played in latin jazz
so its 1 and 2 and 1 and 2 and
now to play the latin rhythmic, i highly recommend to get a percussionist set up, and have him learn the latin sytles on the conga, and timbales. its essential to have these afro-cuban rhythms in ever latin style music.
in latin music the percussion and drums are playing on the offbeat!
here is a simple salsa beat on the drums
d-bass drum
p-snare
x-high hat
^-accent
were gonna take it slow

lots of accents are in latin styles of music. in kirk franklin rebirth when their sing Are God is Awesome God, you could here the drummer playing this beat, in the part of the song when the latin rhythms come out. also watch the video and the end their is a salsa part.
