I thought it went real nice..He got a nice line of Music Directors and he knows what he lookin for so im excited to know who the band will be.. even tho i already got MY lineup already! LOL ..The musician that stood out the most for me is Blake the guitar player. he gotta nice swagg to his playing. on the bass. the lil cat wit the braids to the back was real to me. had confidence in his playin and he was enjoying himself which i liked that about him. [look interested in the music that your playing].. Big Kris on the drums stood out. and the girl drumma as well .. its not often you see a girl drummer play so aggressive and sure like a man...good stuff yo! that made me wanna practice sumthing heavy!!!!!!!!!!!lol

The Girl Drummer - Joy is from Buffalo, NY she is with an all girl gospel band called Heavenbound

I like blake too, as far as bass they didnt show to much of Rawbiz but i would think between him, jamero, and walter barnes (ohio monster) it should be pretty good comp.

the keyboard players all sucked to me and the himher im sorry is a superdope vocalist but yea ill leave it at that

Yeah...the girl drummer is pretty dope!!! Chris Kee could have did way better...Big Chris I thought was good, Blake was real nice. I wish they wouldve shown more of Tim Rawbiz but I guess we have to wait until next show, Jamero was holding it down though. I wasnt really feeling the Keyboardist either they were alright. This will be interesting though how it unfolds....

Hahaha I laughed my but off when he said "The amp was tired"
That was a good one.
Yeah...I cant believe Rob was saying that. I dont think Chris did his best, although I do believe he is the better one there, but Rob saying he wasnt paying attention and he was missing breaks was way off...I watched it twice.

Yeah I was a little suprised that Eric didn't make it. But I think they were looking for more straight pocket than anything (Which is why the girl Dina advanced! No comment on her). And Eric likes to throw his flavor into the songs. But his fave quote is "only what you do for Christ will last", so maybe it wasn't his time.......

Chris was absent from his dad's church for an extremely long time before finally coming back on the 19th of July I believe. His mouth is shut tight on what happens...

I love the show. I think I'll be watching reruns all week long.

Well, that's the caliber of musician I'd think they'd be seeking, anyway. Then again, Chris Coleman's don't exactly come a dime a dozen.

The show was pretty cool. It will be even better once they start showing more of the talent. Out of the 35sum that made it into the house they really only showed 6 or so. I guess the one's MTV decided would make good story....case & point the dragqueen dude!! I'm excited abt the upcoming shows though....I hope he'll open the auditions again and add a few more cities like he did with danity kane...lol. He really needs to swing through atl

...I'd rather make up my own band....Mos Def with the Experiment.  Oh wait...that already exists. lol

I'm digging Kristopher.  He laid back in the cut and pulled out the tricks only when they asked for them.  He played for the music.

They're just simply setting up the drama by focusing on the personalities more than the music.  That's probably the main reason they're putting the shemale in the house because they know he's gonna eventually clown.  Yall know how Diddy rolls.

I'm diggin the show! I used to go to New life and hang out with Chris, so its pretty cool seeing him on tv.

Joy, Jamero, and Brokett really caught my attention.

quote of the night: "The amp is tired!"

What kind of whack excuse is that!!LOL. I would have fired that cat on the spot... If you're gonna make an excuse at least make a good one....

MAAAAN i was mad lol

They didnt show none of the really WACK musicians. like American Idol. Thats what i wanted to see.

Other than that it was cool . . . Was kinda disappointed by some of the keys players.

I see you dudes like Blake. He's from Berklee along with one of the singer's named Morgan and a Keys player named Sean Alexander.

I think it should be a good show or at least i hope so

and on the topic about chris kee..
i think he couldve done better too..
i think that did made a comment about him not payin attention on the breaks and Nissan (thank god) shed on light and backed chris up..which i wouldve done too cuz diddy might not know that chris has a background playin for a major artist since the mid-90s (Percussion) lol...

but blake caught my attention the most..
but man im so excited about this..i really need to get back to practicing... and gettin my confidence up so the next time a chance as big as this one comes along again..ima be ready physically but most of all mentally..cuz a cat like me would be sweating worst then keith! get it? lol

The show was "fun." I enjoyed it. However, looking at the cats who made the cut, I don't have high expectations for the end result. There are just more reasonable ways to put together the ultimate band. I didn't see a drummer at all. The girl was nice, but I don't think she fit the description of the band that Diddy wants. He clearly wants the hottest band in the game and all of the cats shown need some work...

The guitarist with the low cut playing the Fender... YES! Hire him. He's ready.
Jamareo on bass... Loved it! Excitement and energy and killin a 4 string. Yezzir!

I didn't see much else. I understand that it's meant for entertainment, but I have NO DOUBT that R. Lewis knows a better way to build the ultimate band.

God bless ;)

Walter Barnes (bass), Joey Green (bass), James "Mook" Agnew (drums) are all great musicians from the Cleveland area. I look forward to seeing more of the show. The violinist is killer!

It seems like Atl would be the first spot. Even though I hear we all sound alike. Danity got my homie B. Williams from here.

I think you are pre-judging. There wasnt a lot shown that could tell us what would create the "hottest" band.

As the show goes on im sure we will see why certain people were picked over others.

I saw a clip of that "shed."  They're going to get all in each other's faces over this mess.  So needless IMO, but I aint a producer on the show so it shall go down.

Mike Moore is a well-known Baltimore native, and a beast on drums and keys. I'd like to see him make it far.

On another note, I spoke to "he-who-must-not-be-named" and his take on the whole thing, was that this show is more-or-less just entertainment. The "actual" band might only consist of a select few from the show. ?/?

In any event, I'm curious to see how the show will play out ;D

I'm thinking that Nisan is going to be on the kit in the end.  If known of a couple of major gigs where they did all of these open auditions and in the end a bunch of first-call cats got a phone call and did the hit.  I think they just want to show how intense and hungry folks are going to be  and how far they're willing to go for this.

Now if Diddy makes them walk to Roscoe's to get him some chicken and waffles............
Title: Re: "Making His Band"
Post by: teflonminds88 on July 29, 2009, 06:55:09 AM
Lol at Roscoe's :D

But let's be honest. If Nisan gets the job, there's no doubt it will be a very "well-played" gig, but Diddy by no means will have the "hottest" band.

I mean Diddy had Voldemort on his last tour! ;D I'd say you'd have to get a pretty creative somebody to come harder than that!

I think Jamero has a great attitude and that goes a long way. He was very relaxed under pressure and did what they asked him to do.

who is he who must not be named?

also a band can be hot without chops. I have seen quite a few shows where im bobbing my head more because of the arrangement and could care less what the drummer is playing

i absolutely agree with fifth, none of the drummers that competed showed me any thing that we havent seen, i though some body that was waiting for the chance to get the spot light wouldve showed up, was disapponted, but that guy at the end of the episode got diddy's attention as well as nisan, but did yall see the opener of the show no other that the man Eric Moore II i thought for shure hang it all up the man got the job no competition needed, but the dude on bass jamerio smoked the competition

Wow....I did see a few musicians that frequent the gospel circle...like for instance...I have to agree with other comment concerning Mike Moore (from Baltimore) who does play keys and drums was strictly on keys...I guarantee the show will have to show Mike Moore killing the set at some point..we have seen him on sheds in the forum a few times...Blake on guitar was killing, yeah he is definitely ready...the bass players Time and Jamareo is definitely ready...Stay Blessed, Nate J.

Yeah I keep hearing all this talk about the kid Jamareo. Now I'm not a hater by any means, but my man got a lot of air time, so we had the chance to see a lot of things he was doing...and he's nice, no doubt about that. But he has some strict competition in my man Tim "Rawbiz" Williams...a strait monster out of Berklee College of Music, and this cat named Walter that I got the chance to meet and play with out of Huntsville, Alabama, who is a left handed 4-string playin beast of the low-end.

I'll say it once again, Kristopher Brooks is the one to watch.  He is like a ninja.  Silent, but deadly.  He is also very humble.  If you read his Myspace page, he is all about acknowledging God for giving him his gift.  Talent AND humility is a great combo in the music world.  My eyes are on this cat.

Here's a clip from '08 I found on him.

I dont think we will find out till later on during the season they were kinda focusing on that He/She character.

Plus its not about Chops. I have seen a show where i KNOW the drummer could blaze and they just chill and it feels so much better.

Everyone has their own opinions and mine is that this band can be hot without someone destroying the kit. You saw Jamereo, the cat played nothing out of pocket until they told him to and when he did it was blazing but he waited till he was asked. Im sure later on they will ask some people to step out some like they did that Kristopher dude and they will do a lil somethin. However, i wouldnt be mad if they didnt

I agree that a band can be great without musicians trying to 'kill', but...

...that is if the music they're playing is interesting. I wouldn't exactly call Diddy's music interesting. When you're forced to eat crap, you'd kind of like to have a little extra seasoning on your food to cover up for the fact that you're eating crap.

Did you see a video of everyones solo??? Because they definately didn't show everyones solo, so there is no way to judge. The only solos I can remember is Joy, Big Chris, and the other dude I forgot his name for drums. The only others is Blake, Jamareo, The other guitarist, the white guy on keys, and there was another lady. So there is no way really judge how everyone's else solo went, and who proved what.

I hope they post the footage i.e Behind the scenes.  I know for a fact that there are two monsters under that roof that have yet to be seen.

I beleive that the task that was given to the Keyboard players is something that will only help them in the long run. I have that same book and its no joke.

I agree with you bro. I know Mr. Barnes and Rawbiz did some sick stuff when they told them to let loose. There's only so much you can show in the amount of time that the premiere aired. This is MTV, so they are going to try to get more than musicians to watch the show which is why I think they gave Jaila and others so much attention due to stories when I thought Nina Mac and Amira Perkins(I think that's here name) were the sickest vocalists in my opinion.

Exactly my point!!! Yeah man, I know other musicians and singers who would have shut the stage down during solo time. Especially Tim. Did you here James Andrews and New Seasons album he produced??? He straight murdered it dude!!! So yeah...I have my reasons to where I believe there was some sick stuff being let loose off camera.

Yeah man....Chris Kee is like that as well. Dude pocket, timing, and rhythm is sweet. John disciplined him very well, but don't let that fool you, Chris has some sweet chops as well, and he is so original with his. Never repetitive. Time will surely tell though. I was listening to John's "Blessed By Association" album, and Chris knows how to work a band.

Are their any Chris Coleman/Tony Royster Jr. level monsters on the show?

...nope!  I think the drum audition would've been over if someone was on that level. lol

...I like Chris Kee.  He'll be top 3.  I'm still shocked that Eric Moore didn't make the cut.  That dude looked like he was already on the band.  Oh yeah, I like that dude Jamareo but Rawbiz is most definetly ready in my opinion.  Blake on guitar gets my vote thus far from what I saw/heard.  Can't wait to see the new episode though.  8)
