This is an excerpt from our Music Department book that we've created at our church.
Standards for the Music Department
Major Principles:
1. Your Testimony is more important than your Talent.
2. Brokenness before God is more important than Skill.
3. Shape-ability is more important than what you know.
4. Teamwork is more important than Individualism. (We are stronger together than we are apart)
5. Cultivating Relationships is more important than self-service.
6. It's not about me, it's not about now. It's all about HIM and HIM ONLY.
Guidelines and Expectations:
1. Christ-like Attitude.
- Graciousness - Kindness
- Thoughtfulness - Consideration of Others
2. Priority of Prayer
- Daily prayer for each other
- Weekly prayer together
- Prayer time for all involved prior to any event.
3. Commitment to minister the heart of God.
4. Teachability and Humility.
5. Honesty and Truthfulness.
6. Dependability.

7. No Unwholesome Talk: Ephesians 4:29 says:
-Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for
edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
- No complaining - No gossiping: talk directly with
- No belittling those whom you have a problem
- No venomous talk with
8. Focused on Christ, pointing others to Him.
9. Keen awareness of what is happening in the service.
10. Be Prompt (on time) it is a way to respect and honor others.
11. A Winning Attitude, constantly improving to reach your maximum potential.
12. Team Builder, seeks to build relationships.
13. Collaborator, contributes cheerfully to the team.
14. No Competitiveness.
15. No Territorialism.
