I'm doing a serious research paper and each time I type in google, it always leads me here. For you gospel drum history guru's, I need your help. Would anyone know when the drum set was added to Gospel music? I've listened to quite a few Mahalia Jackson recordings but got nothing. By the time I get to James Cleveland, drums are everywhere. Any help? I'm thinking it began around the 1940s...All help would be GREAT! (If you have recording references/drummer names, that would definitely help too)
