Title: How to set/shift the atmosphere.....?
Post by: acts2-38 on June 07, 2013, 06:10:52 PM
I know it when I see it, but its so hard to explain. How do you explain this? I'm trying to get our group to really "take charge" before we sing, as opposed to the same ol' "we're coming with an A and B selection or generic sounding testimony. Is it safe to say they need to take "authority" over the service? I look at it kinda like opening for a bigger known artist or something..

IMO, you are opening for the Biggest possible Artist: God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. He is worthy to be worshiped and praised!

It's all in the attitude: one of prayer, to the Lord and for each other (so your team members don't feel taken for granted) with entering His gates with thanksgiving, and coming into His courts with praise. So many groups approach praise and worship in their services as either a chore or a concert, letting ego and petty bickering get in the way. I can say this because at times I have been guilty myself.

If you have prayer warriors in your church, ask them to intercede for your ministry...

turning on your private prayer and worship at home, that manifests itself on Sunday. Study the scriptures that the song was based on, and minister the song. Most people just stand and sing words, or some canned adlibs that they heard on the recording. But you have to have freedom to follow the Spirit in your service (and make sure when you step out, it is indeed the Holy Spirit). When it is truly inspired by the Spirit, there will be fruit. And when you have fruit, even if you went off script, you'll know it was His will and not your own.
