Title: Racism In The Church
Post by: funkStrat_97 on July 23, 2018, 10:17:36 AM
I know y'all don't like watching "long" Youtube videos (praying that the Lord delivers you from that spirit  ;D ), but I think that many valid points have been raised in this video.  For your convenience, it starts at the 26:13 minute mark to the end, but up to the 32 minute mark gives some insight to a couple of important points.

Who is my brother? Who is my sister?

I don't mind long videos. Sunday is considered the most segregated day of the week. We have to learn to talk to each other and stop talking at each other. I think we spend too much time wanting individuals from other diverse backgrounds to empathize with our struggles...the struggles of black Americans. To a certain degree, they are not going to understand. These days, many of us (black Americans) can all sit in the same church and not empathize with each other. In addition, to me - the church has a singular, overreaching goal - to spread the gospel. There are many organizations who have as their charge to bring social justice, equity, etc. But, no other organization has the charge to spread the gospel. Should the church put down her charge to pick up another...or share this charge with others. I do not believe people who have a heart for God can be racist. So, I think our cause is better served fulfilling the church's original mission. Unless, we lack faith in what and in Who we believe. Save people's souls and watch their lives and behavior change because they have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit directing their path. Racism by another name is simply sin...and a prideful sin indeed.
