Good morning fellow bassists,
I am new to the bass guitar. Actually, attempting to teach myself. I already play keys so I'm using what I know about playing keys to help with this transition. I know what I want to hear (played key-bass for years lol) but not exactly sure of the best way to execute it.
Any tips, helpful hints, resources, etc. for beginners?

On YouTube , Adam Neely has good tipz for safe technique and posture, as does Scott's Bass Lessons.
First and foremost is to develop safe technique and posture (I'm suffering from neglecting that in my guitar playing now). Relaxed everything, back straight, fretting wrist straight, etc.
Learn your major, minor, blues, and pentatonic scale patterns to start out. Once you've memorized the scales, your piano brain ear will recognize the intervals and your bass fingers will know where to go.
Learn techniques to mute unplayed strings with both hands to avoid ugly overtones ringing out.
CHANGE YOUR STRINGS AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR If you play your bass more than twice a month LOL. None of that 5+ year old strings stuff :p
Make sure your bass's action and intonation are setup well. Not too high, but not buzzingly low, notes in tune up to the 12th fret.
