Yeah I totally agree with 4hisglory.  The number system will improve your playing greatly.  There are plenty of websites that provide info.  This website is one of them.  Once I learned it and how it relates to chording and theory, my playing improved by leaps and bounds.  If you need more info I'm sure that people on this board will be more than happy to help.

God bless

4HisGlory and busta ryhmes are both correct, learn the number system. All that is, you learn your major scales first in all 12 keys, then learn the scale degrees that correlate with the notes in the scale, once you know that, then you can learn how the chords are formed.

I don't know if D has put this on the site yet, but Hammondman had a chart (it's a common chart that you can also find on the web or in chord  books) on the old site that showed the chord formations. Here's one though from a website called chordwizard:

I posted that song from what I heard on the cd, so if you have any additional questions about the song, feel free to pm me.

I'm still learning the number system. It's just that i guess i don't know how to break it down into a two chord. i've seen some names for chords, but when they break them down its so amazing that how you put the chords together.

You should just take it one step at a time. You wrote that you played the drums and now you want to learn how to play the keyboard, and you've never played the keys before right? Then take it one step at a time, that will be better for you in the long run. Like with anything, you have to learn the basics first and understand it as well, 'cause come on, when you first began to learn math, you didn't start with algebra did you? Of course not, you started with the foundations that would be useful for you when you took algebra down the line and the same thing applies with music.

Once you learn your scales, then chords (starting with the basics on up), you can then apply, more than the bass note in the left and move on to different voicings that will make you playing fuller. So hang on in there, and if you have any more questions about theory, feel free to ask.

IS THERE CERTAIN SCALES I SHOULD FOCUS ON? BESIDES MAJOR AND MINOR
