dealing w/ other musicians from other churches...
« on: May 17, 2007, 02:30:51 AM »
okay...I posted a similiar topic on this a while back, but it's getting very serious. I attend a very small church, were basically a family runs the church...you know like the mom is the song leader and the brother or dad is the pastor. I'm not part of the family but i'm the music minister, play the keys and sing as well. We practice every week and hold these monthly singing events and here a whole lot recently another keys/singer from another church has been coming in to practice with us and it almost seems like shes taking over. Almost every practice she's there and our musicians and singers seem to "approve" her more over me being the keys player/singer. I've found myself getting frustrated and discouraged altogether.  and i've talked to the pastor and he knows what's going on but i'm really not sure he's saying anything to his family whether it's right. To me it don't feel right, there is something there that don't feel right in my spirit. I may be afraid they're gonna come in a take my place and I don't want to have a jealous spirit but it almost feels like the devil is using folk to slowly sneak in to take my position. What's so shocking though is that she goes to another church! Shes the music minister there! And shes not even mentioned leaving her church to come to my church. I just don't get it?! Now, I'll admit she's more experienced but I have no clue why they are letting her just take my place slowly. It's been even a burden going to church...cause I know what's gonna happen. I'm praying it thru! Anyone had this happen and can help on what to do?

Okay, you did the first thing that I would have said which is talk to the pastor.  It sounds like your conversation with him gave you little to nothing to go on.  Soooo, my question to you is, what did you ask him?  Better yet, let all the horses out of the barn and simply say to the pastor...

Is this person here to replace me or what?

You say he knows what is going on.  A leader in the church is not effective unless he has the backing of the pastor.  NO QUESTION!  I think if you ask the above question and get a straight answer, you will be fine.  Don't get into it thinking the worse.  That is the enemy trying to set you up.  You are asking the question because  you want the answer, not because you THINK you already know.  According to what you just said in this, you really don't know anything.  You are guessing, which is confusion... Ultimately, confusion is not of God.  The scripture is very clear that God is not about leaving us in the dark and neither should this pastor.  Peace man and if you would not mind, I would love to hear how things go.  If you do it in a thread or just hit me with a message.  here is my email address too.

hey munchy...thanks for the shout...yeah I forgot to mention that I did ask the pastor...and he said they not there to replace me, but I was the main man, but still this stuff if going on.  My pastor is still praying about it. Honestly, the other musicians and singers love it when she's there.

And their attitudes change when shes there, they want to show off and ignore things I want to do. When we practice I'm the only one serious about it. My own team actually had told me at the last convention when we were practicing...I had chose 3 songs and they didn't even want to do the songs I wanted to do...they did that woman's songs!!!

It's crazy. I can't be selfish with my gift. I mean I will share but when it comes to our own church praise team seems like she has to be there. I mean honestly, I can't say much but this person actually talked to my pastor and said some things against my church that was wrong and my pastor still will let her get up and kinda take over.

I mean I've said things to stand up against those controlling spirits but it keeps on going on. I want to be humble about this. But I can't be so humble, I just let people walk all over me. And I believe in treating people right...Recently, I seriously thought that God was thru with me there, and was time to move on. It's a difficult situation. And some things I maybe "assuming" but has anyone ever used their Holy Ghost?! The Holy Ghost will show you things and warn you of trouble! Thanks...

So my question then is, how are you the MAIN MAN and these things are allowed?

Dude, I'm gonna keep it real.  What they are doing is childish and are the tactics of fourth grade children.  When the substitute teacher comes, we all showed off, you know what I mean?  That is crazy man and you do not have to subject yourself to that.  If this lady is that tight, where she is either playing circles around you or they just prefer her over you, OKAY.  This whole set up ain't GOD man.  Now, I am on the outside looking into the glass that you are providing for me.  So please filter my statements through that.  But from what you are telling me, they are treating you like a bald-headed stepchild and they are doing it like a bunch of elementary school children.  See, children don't communicate when they are upset.  They want you to guess and try to figure it out.  That is what you are doing.  Trying to figure out the tactics of children.  Why try to guess?  A spade is black today and will be black tomorrow.  Call it what it is.  AGAIN, you don't have to subject yourself to that because you are "committed".  Your committment is to our Father in heaven.  What would he say about this junk that you are experiencing?  Think about it dude... PEACE

hey for real its really childish. Thanks for responding and I'm praying it through. Seems like people want to put limits on you and your talent.

No man can take what God has given you.  ("For he is well able to keep that which you have commited unto Him."  That's the Bible.)  I would definitely spend some quality time seeking God on what to do.  His answer is not always comfortable, but always correct.
I would rather be one of kind than a cheap copy of a great original.
