My first board which I still have is the Casio WK-1630. It's one of the highly recommended for starting out.

My first keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-295...I just got it a couple of weekes ago.

So now I am trying to learn this thing so I can become a musician like most of you at this site.

My father bought me a Yamaha Portatone PSR-11 I think in like 1982.  I've still got it and it still works!  It's what I practice on at home.

Lol my first keyboard was a lil' hundred dollar casio from radio shack..started learning all the James Hall songs i could on it and it sounded pretty good for what it was ...i remember when i was about 16 we did a 2song gig at a church and all these popular musicians came..they asked me if i wanted to use their tritons but i was like 'NAHH' im straight ..i was so used to practicing on that keyboard that i was scared to switch to the higher priced keys...not to mention we were doing 'Count it all Joy" by the Winans and the casio had a pretty nice sound that sounded kinda like the synthesizer in that song lol..i'm working with a Motif now....those were the good ol' days

Praise The Lord !!
My first keyboard and I still have it is the Roland Xp 50. The
electric piano and acoustic piano sound are cool. My future
board is either the Yamaha Motif ES 8, or the Korg Extreme.
At the Church I'm using the Korg Triton Pro ( 88 Keys ) :D

Some of you are making me feel kinda old (even though I'm young!) Y'all first keyboards were roland xp50's and tritions and motifs!!

My first keyboard I got for Christmas '86 was a casio. I don't remember the exact model, but it looked an awful lot like the one kadman92 had a picture of from 1986. This is really bringing back some memories (wiping a tear from my eye. LOL)
The first popular song I learned how to play was "The Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston.
Then about 10 years or so ago I got a Yamaha PSR 520 (thought I was big-time then!!) Then I graduated to a Roland XP80. I'm trying to get the money together for my next one though.

I completely forgot I knew how to play that song.   HAHA    I played the piano part for a girl that was singing it in the school talent show.  All sorts of pics in the yearbook of her, I wasn't even mentioned....

My first popular song I learned was probably Sister Christian...LOL

my first 2 completely by ear songs were:

Axel F
and
The Charlie Brown theme

Man I feel old 8O

HAHA! Kadman92, I think EVERY girl who sung in talent shows back then wanted to sing that song! I got so tired of hearing it!

That's wack you didn't even get the recognition in the yearbook. LOL!!

Mine was a DX21 Yamaha.  I couldn't afford the DX7 at the time, but that one got the job done, untill someone broke in my house and stole it, amp and all!

My first keyboard was the radio shack Concert Mate (chuckles). Then I moved up to a Roland e-15 intelligent synth. I was supposed to learn the drums, so I asked for a drumset. My music teacher suggested that I get the keyboard in one of my lesson, but I wanted a set up drums. When my mom confronted me that I had to choose either a drum set or a keyboard, I broke down and asked for the keyboard. I believe I made the right decision. I can remember the day I unboxed it (christmas day) :D  When my buddies came over, they where like  8O whoa!  The thing was awsome at the time. My mom had to shell out 800 bux!

My first keyboard was a casio, don't remember the model, but i took that little 49 keys, everywhere, played it in church, with a little group we formed with school mates, and i didn't know athing about chords, keys, timing or anything, i was very green, but we just knew we were jamming on the keys, Ha.Ha.Ha. those were the good fun days, and scary days of playing by trail and error, the lord has blessed me with know a Korg Pa1 xPro arranger, and a korg Triton Le, all between this I've had about 15 keyboards. Lol.

My first Keyboard
« Reply #35 on: May 07, 2005, 12:44:54 PM »
My first keyboard was a Casio I don't remember which model but I remember playing with it strapped around my shoulder. Then I went to a Roland D-20 next was a Yamaha V-50, then was a Alesis QS+ Piano, next was a Roland I can't remember the model, next was a roland JV-30, then I had a roland xp-10 later an Alesis QS 7.1. Currently I play a Roland RS-5 and a Yahama Motif ES 6. My all time favorites would have to be the Alesis QS+piano and the Motfes.
