This was one of my early snare drums I built a while back. For those of you who don't know what a stave shell is it's probably one of the purest sounding shells next to a solid log-carved shell. The shell is compiled of solid pieces of wood rather than stacked plies. You would be surprised as to how much the sound is affected by the glue in between the plies of most drums. I didn't understand the clarity of these stave shelled drums until I built one.
