I know in a room full of drummers it's unavoidable that we discuss our favorite jams that have great groove, pocket, or fills. But I wanna know what some of your favorite songs that have nothing to do with the drums. I mean the songs that minister to you and really move you without the band having to do backflips. Songs that you can hear as a vocal and piano or guitar and would still move you.
Mine are:
Don't Pass Me By - Fred Hammond
Find A Way - Fred Hammond
Have Your Way/HolySpirit Move - Joe Pace
How Do You Love That Way -  Fred Again
Glorify Your Name - Lakewood (that's such a smiple song but it gets me0
There's a bunch of other songs that are a "Meditation Playlist" in my iPod that  I listen to when I need to lift myself.

Yo Funkaddictus, what you know about Ken Reynolds!!!! That's definitely the "sleeper" cd of the year for me. What a worship experience and Derico Watson does some glorious playing on that album. You folks have got to check that one out.

Anyway, I know it's old, but my all time favorite song is Prodigal Son by Kim Burrell (Everlasting Life project).
My goal as a musician is to be better than myself.
check out my site www.tampogo.com/alsmith!!!

If i had to pick a song  I'd say Fred Hammond's Find a way.  Great ballad and I love the chord sub at the climax and the deceptive ending!  I also love Isreal's 'rejoice' - just a downright uplifting song.

Tye Tribbett's ''Look Were He Brought Me From'' is a favorite of mine. All of his work is exelent, from what I'll heard. Plus the arangment he did to ''Lord I Lift Your Name On High'' was just unbelivable. We got to traval back to those 2-5-1's, na mean?!!! (or mabye you don't.......). That was a good example of that.

Marvin Sapp -  Be exalted
I listen to that cd and it puts me in a different mood. I think its one of the best gospel cds out there. Not to mention how ill jeremy hanes is on that cd. He is a beast! His timing, foot, and everything is just on key.

* Kirk Whalum - Where He Leads Me - Reprise (on Black Gospel Jazz CD)
(Yo, absolutely one of the most stirring examples of instrumental praise)

* Tye Tribbett - Instrumental Interlude (forgot the track #)
(Hypnotizing Instrumental Praise..... Just set it on loop and meditate)

* Lamar Campbell - More Than Anything

* Paster Kirbyjon Patterson & Windsor Village Mass Choir - (I'm almost
having a migraine right now cause I can't think of the name of that
   groove)

* Marvin Sapp - You are God Alone

* Montrell Darret - Free (So natural.. The 'freshest' sounding
Inspirational / Gospel song I've ever heard)

* Potter's House - Thou Art My Help

* Bshp. Larry Trotter - Silent Tears & Trouble Dont Last

* Richard Smallwood - Procession of the Levites & His Mercy Endureth

* Norman Hutchins - God's Got A Blessing
