Anyone using any of his play-a-long stuff?  If so what kinda success have you had.

My personal instructor heavily recommends his stuff.

I just ordered a few things from his site.

I had gotten some stuff for the piano that I thought was ok, but I will probably check out some of the bass stuff now.

Yea. I have a book by him. It's on using the dorian mode to improvise on keys.

It was nice, but at the time, when I got it, I didn't understand the modes that well, so it was unusable. Now, I know the modes a little better, so I've learned to use it a little. I just have to practice doing my scales on keys more.

Believe me I have enough books.  The main reason I got some of his stuff was for the play-a-long cd's.  Since I do not get to play with other people as often as I would like, I do an awful lot of shedding.

He does have a cd full of tracks that you could play along with, in the book I have.

Those CDs are great - I really like to delete the bass player (using the pan knob)  and then try to come up with my own basslines.    I try not to see what the name of the song is,   try it - it's REEEEELY great eartraining, and a lot of fun!  I try to use different types of basslines.   When I figure I've covered alot of 'basses'  then I'll listen to the bass player on the CD.  Sometimes I'm WAAYYY off base, but usually pretty close, but I'm getting better.
