How Excellent, who sings it?

Does anyone know who sings this song originally? I know it's so many versions out there, but I'm talking about the version that goes: "Oh Lord, how excellent, how excellent, how excellent..." I would appreciate anyone's help with this.

I listened to Walt Whitman's version and that's not the version I'm talking about. Thanks though.

I know we got some ol' school playas on here that remember this song. It was like the hit in the late 80's early 90's. Erry church choir sang it.

The song is called actually "Perfect Praise"... not sure who sings it, I think it may be Walt Whitman & the Soul Children . I will try and post the song though. I think I have it on CD somewhere. You're absolutely right!  Lecretia Campbell was the soloist on that joint, too - beautiful voice!  

FYI - Oscar Seaton was the drummer on that tape (yeah, yeah - I had to use an "old" term on ya!), as well as the drummer for Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago during the Soul Children's "hey day".

Another FYI - The name of the tape is called, "This is the day" and it was released in 1990 on I AM Records.  I used to have that one (and "We are one") back in the day, but I can't find it.  I do, however, know that this tape is out of print, so good luck in finding it, if you're looking to check it out.  :)

I'm confused. If you listened to the song when DD had given you the name of the artist, and it wasn't it, and Sabian comes along with the same info (just more details), and you says he saves the day!!  8O  8O

I'm sorry for the confusion. I just read the post and see what you mean Sis. T. But, I didn't know the actual title of that song was Perect Praise. I thought the name of the song was How Excellent. Walt Whitman actually did a song called How Excellent on the Growing Up cd i think. That's the one that I listened to, which was not the one I was looking for. All of you were right, but because I didn't know which artist song it and apparently the correct title of the song, we would have been going in circles trying to help me figure it out. I thank all of you for your help. The reason I said Sabe saved the day is because he actually gave me the correct title of the song which cleared up a lot of my confusion. Sorry for the misunderstanding though. I know it made me look a little slow :oops: .
