If you gotta funking tune I wanna know what you tune it to so I can experiment!  8) Or if you tune a whole step down Just let me know

I Personally have my bass tuned to the flats. Gb Db Ab Eb & Bb Gotta love that low Bb.

I have seen the 4 string tuned to Eb and a guy that tuned his 6th string to Bb. I think it makes more sense to tune all strings on your bass in fourths. I think they did it for a reason. :D
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

What's going on i'm new to the forum with an ernie ball sub 4 string

I've seen people do some pretty intense lines on a 4 string that i'll probably never be able to do.  So until then i'll just hang on 4.

peace,
josh

the name says it all,  but i am looking for a good 4 string for funk playing.  i like the sound of my bass when i tune down a half step, but i always get confused when people ask me what key we are playing in.  Hey b3 was that 8 string expensive?   peace.

No. It wasn't expensive. I bought it from Ebay.

It's a Galveston bass. It doesn't sound bad, but I can tell the difference between it and my Warwick Thumb. I'm going to buy new strings for it, because the ones that are on it are noname brand. I'm looking at the Conklin strings, but I really don't want stainless steel strings. I'd prefer nickle-wound strings, but I can't find any for an 8 string. If I don't get the Conkline strings then I'm considering buying a 6 or 7 string set and just purchase the extra strings seperately.

I don't know how it'd sound mixed though.

I want to learn to play with guitar tuning on the bottom 6 of my 8-string. I just don't practice chording enough yet. My fretting hand is still weak.

That probably would be a good question, if I had a lead player!

LOL

...but I think there is still room for an ERB in a band with a lead player.

THATS WHAT IM TALKIN about!!! I use to do the Low A tuning until I got my Cirrus and then it took away from my tone so I just stayed with the Bb tune.
