What are some songs with your favorite bass lines in them???

Check out a song by Micah Stampley called "Worthy to be Praised"
The bass line on that song is unreal. I don't know who the bassist is but I doff my cap to him.

Man I’m OLD SCHOOL baby when I think about a solid bass groove.  Good Times is the first thing that comes in my mind.  Everybody knows how it go’s.  Many have rap to it.  Need I say any thing else.   Saintlewis :D

One of my favorite fussion/jazz songs in the whole world is "The Chicken" Whether it was performed by Jaco Pastorius or the Dave Weckl Band it always sounds good. Check out the Dave Weckl band performing "The Chicken"

I'll toss two more really sweet basslines out there.

* I Want You Back - The Jackson 5

* The Theme to Sanford & Son.  I think that it's Chuck Rainey playing on that one.

Peace,

James

Favorite bass lines. Wow! There are so many but just off the top of my head I enjoying playing "Square Biz" by Teena Marie, "777-9311" by The Time, "I'm Healed" by Donald Lawrence and "Dreamin'" from George Benson & Earl Klugh.

Man, "who is like the lord" is a monster of a song.  I have such a hard time trying to learn it.  Terrance Palmer is crazy on the live disc of "The Pages of Life" CD.
Luvphillyman,

I get into "Tell Me Something Good" too.  It's one of the few secular songs that I can play and sing simultaneously.

Still, my favorite secular basslines are "Let's Work" by Prince (who is a VERY accomplished bassist) and  "Strawberry Letter 23" where Louis Johnson just lights it up.  I have the studio version, a live version (totally off the hook) and a live version with Larry Graham playing in with the Brothers Johnson.

My favorite gospel lines (so far) are "I Want My Destiny" and "Let Me Praise You Now", both off Fred Hammond's "Purpose By Design" cd and Terrance Palmer playing with Isreal & The New Breed on "Who Is Like The Lord"

Peace,

James

Mary Mary-Wade in the Water, Thank You (Andrew Gouche)
Ruben Studdard-Goin' Up Yonder (Andrew Gouche)
Martha Munizzi-Glorious (Terrance Palmer I think)
Israel & New Breed-You've Made Me Glad (Terrance Palmer)
Fred Hammond-Glory To Glory To Glory (live), Dwell (live) (Terrance Palmer)
Donald Lawrence-Healed (Maurice Fitzgerald)
Kim Burrell-Live (Maurice Fitzgerald)  I refer to that CD as Maurice's coming out party, although I know that was not his first recording
Kurt Carr-We Declare War, God Great God, If I Tell God (Maurice Fitzgerald)
Mary Mary-Heaven (Warryn Campbell I think)
Smokie Norful-It's All About You (live) (Tony Russell)
Brent Jones & the TP Mobb-Midnite (Don't know who the bass player is)
Kirk Franklin-When I Get There (Keith Taylor)

I'll list the secular basslines later

It's "Dreamin'". It's a track produced by Marcus Miller from the "Collaboration" album.
