choir in concert
« on: November 08, 2005, 02:32:35 PM »
I posted this in another forum so I'll try here.  Any tips on planning for a local church choir to be featured in their own concert?  How many songs, etc.  This is my first concert to plan.

Thanks to all

Hello.  I would say find bout 8-10 good songs, and go from there...song suggestions, it depends on the choir really.

It depends on how many guests you are having.
For the last two years, we have sung 10 songs. We are just doing six songs this year.
After listening to recordings of last years concert I know that I need to shorten the time.

Hope this helps!
God bless.

We will probably have one guest soloist or group to open for us.  Dooley, I agree with you, too.  I figure 8 songs would be enough.  I don't think I'm  teaching anything new to them.  The songs will be songs they know and some they only sany maybe once. Thanks again

I have done 4 concerts at my church and usually we will have the featured choir sing two halves worth of songs. Maybe eight songs or what not. But there should be dance ministry or one or two other choirs there to open up and bring your choir out to close the concert.

Great idea about the dance ministry!  Something I hadn't thought about.  This would add variety to the service.  Thanks so much!
