The difference between a beaded and regular shell snare
« on: January 13, 2006, 09:49:41 PM »
Can anyone tell me the difference between a beaded and regular shell snare drum? What so special about a beaded snare? What's different about the sound of a beaded shell versus a regular shell? Of course I'm talking in reference to a metal snare. Help me out bro's.
My goal as a musician is to be better than myself.

The bead use to be where the metal was welded together. NO difference in sound any more because it is not a seam anymore. Just cosmetic. I asked that question at Memphis Drumshop before a few years ago.
