What up LGM Fam,

I am looking to purchase a used MPC2000XL. The price range I want to stay in is between $600 or $700. Yeah, that's low but that is all I am willing to pay. I have been making tracks on my Triton and Motif and fell in love with the MPC so I NEED to have one on my arsenal. Please throw any GOOD info my way. I Luv 4RM aBOVE!!!

Get a MPC 1000 instead, yo! The 1000 (though different) is better in my opinion- better features, quicker file load times, it comes with all the outputs on the back, USB to quickly transfer files to and from a computer, larger screen, etc. I was using a borrowed 2000XL and after I got a 1000 I gave that 2000XL back to my guy so fast it wasn't even right. You might find a used one on ebay for about the price you're asking. Brand new- $1000.

I would say get the 2000xl.  I have one and i wouldn't trade it for anything.  if you get the 1000 you're gonna have to upgrade because you'll get mad at the memory size.  less memory means less sample time and less sounds you can load.  thats just my opinion.  if you have a music store like a guitar center, go in and play with the both of them.  thats what i did and i like the 2000xl better.

Memory? No problem! Akai gave me a free 250MB RAM upgrade, and I got a 1 GB flash card for $75...

If you love the 2000XL- I don't have anything against it. Go for it!

The MPC 1000 is cool but you are going to have to scrub ebay to find a 2000XL that cheap. But they are out there. After messing with the 2500, My 2000xl seems like a dinosaur. I love the 2000XL as a sequencer though.
Im too tall to act small.

TRY EBAY OR TRY TO FIND A REFURB. OR THINK ABOUT A MPC 1000. THEY ARE PREETY MUCH THE SAME TO ME. AND AS FAR AS THE MEMORY GOES. YOU CAN ALSO BUY SMART MEDIA CARDS AND KEEP ALL OF YOUR SAMPLES ON THERE AND CARRY YOUR CARDS IN A POCKET IN YOUR MPC BAG. THINK ABOUT IT.

BTW, I went ahead and bought a new 2000XL. Got a real sweet deal from a friend who works for Guitar Center. Thanks for the advice though.
