I actually played the trumpet way back in Jr. High  :-[  but I picked it up again last year and I could still do a LITTLE somethin.  I think I'm gonna get back into it.

I play Trumpet. My Dad has been playing for 38 years, and I have been playing since I was 5 years old. I took a break for a few years, but I am just getting back into it.

Just bought my Dad a black Pocket Trumpet for His Birthday..

God Bless.

I play the trumpet as well and I've been playing since was in the 5th grade. I've played throughout out high school and college and it's different trying to play at chruch than just playing written music but I'm adjusting. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good gospel recordings with trumpet players featured in them? Most of the gospel songs I've listened to just has a few licks here and there. Why is that the only presence horn players seem to have in gospel music?

I play the trombone. I actually just started like 3 weeks ago, and i love it. Me and a few of my musician friends are all picking up a horn to bring some gospel horn players to our area, pray for us.. We want to see horns used in the church more.

God Bless,

Brian

I started playing trombone in 7th grade for Band.  I now do all brass and a few other things round the way.  I carried through high school and college doing Marching, Jazz, and a few other bands.  We got to do this together.  We are a 'far and few in between' species.  I can count on 1 maybe 2 hands all of us that I know of in my area.

That would be a great new feel for gospel music.  That sweet timbre on top of the horns.  Velvet.

Brass instrument? Nah, not the kid.
Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

Hello, all! I'm new to LGM. Just joined, actually. I'm from Brunswick, GA. I started playing way back in the day in 1998 in 6th grade and have been playing ever since then! :D After high school, I went to Georgia Southern University for music performance, but I didn't actually finish. I only had a few more semesters to go, but I had to drop out for family reasons. Just joined up with LGM to try and find some work as either a session musician or a praise band musician. I also play guitar, drums, piano, banjo, mandolin...and pretty much anything else that I can get my hands on! I performed in the top jazz ensemble at GSU with guest artist Harry Watters, and have performed with guest composers such as David Maslanka and Steven Bryant. I was also temporarily part of a student-led freelance jazz combo while at GSU called Cold Duck Time. Hardest pieces I've ever played were probably Napoli, by Herman Bellstedt; and the 2nd movement of the Tomasi Trumpet Concerto (pieces I played on my junior recital while at GSU). Hope I didn't bore anyone with the details and such. Lemme know if any of you guys need a trumpet player! :D I'm praying and looking for any kind of paying job in the Christian music genre that I can get. I'm 100% Church of God to the core and don't mind the shouting and speaking in toungues...I'm used to it! :)
