Those numbers he posted next to the mode names are steps, "1" for a whole step, "1/2" for a half step.

Im shocked. As much theory as I have been studying for the longest time. This simple explanation totally clears up what modes are and what exactly to do with terms like  Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, etc...  
I know it may be elementary to most be to me-- EXCELLENT!!!

what is out and how to start the whole
process.  :?:  Please send words of encourage-
ment and/or writing and composing techniques
in order for me to have a clear example of
how the brothas and sistas of the gospel
industry write beautiful, inspiring, soul filled
songs are produced. :wink:

Well we all believe in GoD SO YOU need to pray and challenge God so that you will realize your dreams and I know that you have the faitha and encourage. Well I guess you could just start singing to yourself and start writing words or try playin th piano and composing a melody and work with that. I guess that what will work for me all the bless  :P   :P

Hi everyone,

   I'm pretty new to this site, and just started playing in my church, I was drumming before but always had a love for the organ and now being the only organist(now), I would like a good guide to start understanding and learning chords, and all that good stuff! any suggestions
