yea I do. I waer my strap kinda short I like my plucking hand to be somewhere around my belly button but a lil to the side, so when I sit i keep my back strait my bass barely touches my leg.

I always wear my strap.  I like my bass to sit a little high. Also you don't really want your bass resting on your leg. Posture is kinda important whether sitting or standing.

See....That's why they make strap-locks. I have strap locks on all my basses,  so all I have to do is snap my strap into them.

I use strap-locks on my bass. It only takes one time to drop you bass guitar.   Thank God I had a tight grip on the neck when my strap came on the bottom of my bass.  The bass almost hit the floor.  The next day I was at Guitar center buying strap locks.  Now it’s like a seat belt I always have it on.  Saintlewis

Yeah man I always wear my strap, Like Laydback said posture is very important and hand mechanics change when you sit and the bass rest on your leg. I also want to interject that people should if sitting use a stool instead of a chair for the same reasons as above.

I'll share a technic that I use when playing sitting down on a chair. I play right handed so I'll position the bass body on the inside of my left thigh. This will angle the bass up into a more ergonomic position. Now play, its a lot easier on your wrists and helps with your posture. This is the same technic/posture that clasical guitarist use. So its a method thats been developed and used for a while and it works. It will take a short time to get used to. But so did playing sitting down with your bass on your right thigh and your wrists tweaked out at 90 degree angles. Now try this, if your seated in the clasical position stand up. Now notice how the angle and position of the bass is pretty much the same as it was when you were sitting. Now try this again in the sitting position were all used to with the bass body on the right thigh and stand up. You have to adjust your bass as well as your playing.
