We was grooving to Neyo's new song. Check it out

second link is da continuation

I am not familiar with the song but I think I would like to hear the original.

I head some discrepencies with the tempo and with note placement sometimes. It's easy to get off when playing "duples/quadruples/four 16th note groupings and sextuplets/6 16th notes/2 x triplet 16ths. You also want to watch it and not let your solo get to far away from referencing the melody pattern.

These are just words of advice, please take them as such and keep playing music.
Try not to become a person of success but rather a person of VALUE. - T. Harv Eker

Man I can hear what you are trying to do BUT oh man do you need to eat and sleep with a metronome! Every note (lick) should stay in the groove (off time and on). Youy can be fast and technical but if is sloppy and not in the groove it sucks. Lots of great ideas,  ;just practice them with a metronome or a loop! :D ;D

Sabian, i see u know ur stuff 2..lol We jus havin fun dudes, trynna think outside da box. Of course if we were to dis song for NEYO himself at a concert or sumthin, we wont be playin it da way we did, das why its called a groove. Like i said, all dese are just grooves, playin around wit a melody. The off beat if wat we work on sumtimes, one to better my timing so i can play and stay on beat. I hear yall tho....keep it comin.

If these clips are the same ones from the piano forum, the guy on the drums is way out of control. Print out some of the pocket discussions and brief him on it. Because of the drumming, I couldn't even listen past the first minute, too annoying.

I might feel so strongly because I know the original song well and it's fondly imprinted on my brain. When doing a cover, you can't just go berserk without any effort of staying true to the original.

Select listeners, what? You're talking like you're on some genius level that few people in the world can understand. I've been drumming since I was 6 years old. If you're going to be using odd time signatures, it still has to be solid within that time signature. In fact, it has to be more solid or else it will sound like a train wreck.  I'm giving it to you real. This sounds like a train wreck. I can't even begin to analyze how to fix it because it's just so off.

Sorry bro, let me retract a bit. I now hear the timing after you told me it's off timing. However, the fact that you're using a cover is just throwing me way off man. With that cover and its hook, the off timing and flaboyant licks sound terrible. Listeners, even experienced drummers, who recognize that song will be left only with a headache.

i personally think yall are over reacting. they were shedding to a song nothing is going to be perfect in it. also who they heck plays strait pocket in a shed???? right.

too the clips:

i like how you guys switched it up. yes justin does need to work on his time as far as not getting off and such. he also needs to work on his tempos because in all the clips from you guys there has been tempo issues when he does some stuff same thing with him getting off beat. also the keys/bass player needs to stay more focused time wise because if the drummer starts soloing you have to make sure you stay consistant because as soon as you mess up in his solo the whole thing is off.
