Left hand confusion???????
« on: April 19, 2006, 08:55:59 PM »
Man I thought I was doing something with my little tritones

then I thiought I was the Man with my left hand fournote voicings

But I was shedding with Jerome Taylor yesterday

and the man does things with two little notes in his left hand that sounds oh so heavenly

I was working on it today and it is amazing how the placement of two notes and sometimes three notes in the left hand can produce such sureal textures

The organ is a very complex and multi faceted instrument no wonder its so hard to get people to post theory on the organ

his approach seems to be one of using the left hand to complement and suppport the right

To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word

Yes Diverse. I play alot using this fingering. Playing alot of thirds and fourths with my left hand with only two fingers, this sets me up to play fuller chords like the major 7ths, 9ths,11ths and most assured the 13ths.  Bishop Cole

hey brothers, for  new members, can you show some exampe;s of this new stuff beyond tritones?curious ;what would you play in your left hand over these changes:F maj 7th,Gm 7th,C 7th  doing tritones and beyond.reason for my question;sometimes tritones dont seem to fit.in this example playing   A+Eb/F doesn't work (dominant 7 over maj 7) thanks in HIS love "study(practice)to be as approved workmen(musicians)

sure brother I will attempt to show what I am talking about

ther are several variations so here go a few

You asked me for a !,II, V

and you mentioned

For Fmaj7
your left hand can play the following
E,A
F,A,
GA
F,G
D,A
A,C
For your G minor voicing
F,Bb  4th
F,G    2nd
G,C   4th
C,F   4th
Bb,D,F  triad
G,F    7th

Dominant
Bb,E   tritone
A,Bb,Db  playing the 13 and b9 and b7
C,Bb    7th
G,Bb      minrd
Bb,Db    min3rd
Bb, C  2nd

I am new at this concept and in order to rally hear you would need to see how it is applied in a context i will give a couple of chords so you can hear what i mean

I will present a couple of chords from Lord prepare me

Ped/lh/rh

Ab/FGbA/Cf   lord
Db/F,Ab/Db    me
Gb/GbDb/FBbDb
F/FEb/AbDb
Eb/Eb/Db/GCDb
G/G/Bb/CEbFGBb
Ab/GbBb/CEbFAb
To be or not to be that is the question you anwer when you pray practice and read your word
