Hey, I am a classically trained pianist, also taking jazz lessons the last few years. Currently, I am playing in my university's Gospel choir as one of the keyboardists. I will be playing the blues/hammond organ. All the director gave us to learn the 14 songs is a CD of the songs. I am wondering what I can do to learn these songs. I am very good at playing by ear, but It is still hard for me to basically transcribe a piece for keyboard just by listening. What are some tips as to playing these songs that I hear with a gospel/jazzy/blusey style??? I guess I am looking for tips for comping, 3rds, 7ths, etc... thanks a lot.
