that snare looks like a dw maple w/ wood hoops, but i heard it sounds a lot better w/ die-cast hoops instead.

That's the one!! I now am using a Tama "Kenny Aronoff" signature super piccolo brass snare drum.

It was a Yamaha JR Robinson 15x4 birch snare drum w/ wood hoops. I now am using Tama Kenny Aronoff super piccolo brass snare 4x15.
