Actually I bought the rogue I had planned on changing the pickups and preamp. When I got it I was suprised on how balanced it was. To me it plays like a Ibanez btb esp. around the neck. Mine wasn't set up well out of the box But I spent about 2 hours over two days and set up the neck. The electronics are prety nice the eq is responsive the only thing is it is not as hot as other active basses. It sends a signal a little hotter than most passives.
Sounding Mathematics.

Thanks for the feedback MikeGee.

Have you ever ordered from Avatar before? I've heard things about them on LGM, but that's the only time I've ever heard of them, so I'm kinda hesitant to order and also that i cant try it out before buying.

I'm waiting until next year to get myself a custom instrument and decided to buy a 'beater' bass just to fool around with. A Squier Deluxe Active 5 string. Initial thoughts................very nice bass for the money. Very playable and the 34"/19mm string spacing is comfortable. I have not weighed it but if it's 10lbs...it's a solid 10lbs! Bridge and tuners are decent. There is actually a separate flip-top battery compartment! Nice touch for bass in this price range! Typical crappy Fender strings. I will change them for some DR's. The bad.......I feel the pre-amp is lacking high end! This bass is a perfect candidate for modding. It's giggable as is but if you want killer sound, the pre's gotta go and most likely the pups as well. I would love to see Fender MIA do one of these! It's a beauty to look at! Really nice bass for $299!

Below is a gratuitous sound clip. I used a Zoom 506II as a bridge into my laptop.

And I surely shouldn't be up so late reading ANYTHING.  My work day starts real early and I needs my sleep.

Anyway, Saintlewis, I went to the Michigan Guitar Show earlier today and they had a Fender Custom Shop Reggie Hamilton Jazz Bass that looked exactly like your bass.  What's more interesting is that when I got there, Maurice Fitzgerald was wringing every possible note outta that thing.  Dude is awesome, to say the least.

Peace,

James
I had a chance to play a Reggie Hamilton V @ Bass Central a couple of months back, and man I tellya I wanted to run out of the store with this thing because it was just "cranking. There was a gentleman there sitting a few spaces away playing a Daryl Jones V,and was trying his best to fly the Lakland flag, but I said to him,hey bro although the Daryl Jones that's in your hands is no doubt a great bass, but this Reggie Hamilton V " don't even see it.well to make a long story short I left the store for a couple of hrs to get some "Grub and when I came back to the store the Reggie Hamilton was GONE !!!,and guest who bought it.  ;D
