Keyboard Amps--Which one do you prefer and why?
« on: May 12, 2006, 11:37:35 PM »
I am in the marker for a keyboard amp.  I recently saw a write up on the Carvin Amps.  It looks like they are popular on the west coast and I am in the south(Baton Rouge).  I purchased the Alesis 300 Sumo today and I will be bringing it back tomorrow.

I have narrowed down to 3, and they are: the Roland KC 550, Peavey KB 300, and the Carvin KB 100.

I need some advice y'all...smile!

Go with the Roland.  I have the Roland KC 500 and I loved it.  I'm parting ways with it tho cuz I don't play keys anymore.  That thing is a workhorse.   I've played outside concerts with it, and did concerts in auditoriums and it never failed me.  I've played and heard the peavey amps but really don't like them.  To me, the roland amps is the closest thing to having a small pa setup for keys.
Keep God first and he'll do the rest!!!

I have to agree, I have a KC-550 also and it definitely gets the job done at any venue, I've know people who have the smaller version, I'm not sure of the name it might be KC 450 or 350, but they sound good also. But the 550 is definitely a beast that will encompass any sound you're looking for…the wheels come in handy also, although mine broke off :(
