We have an alternate drummer but he is just now reaching 75% after a serious car accident. Other then that we have alternate singers.

We have 4 bass players. One has retired to be a full time pastor. two is the youth paster and p&w leader (sings and plays guitar). three is the youth bass player. The last one, four is me. I play every main service and once in a while the Early morning service.

So the short answer is no we don't.

I'm from Cardiff and I have met Pino on several occasions.  Great inspiration for a lot of up and coming bass players in this area, including myself when I was a young hoodlum!  That cat can really play!!

My fav players are quite varied in style:- Stanley Clarke, Neils-Henning Orsted Pedersen, Stuart Zender, Marcus Miller, Jaco, Les Claypool, George Mraz, Roger Waters, Bootsy Collins, Bernard Edwards, Charlie Mingus.  They are the my main ones!  I listen to a wide variety of music, but you can probably pick out what I listen to the most out of that list.

Jaco is my favorite.  Vic Wooten is a close second.  These two cats made me change the way i play the drums and look at music in general.  Jaco inspired me to look at my own instrument differently (drums).  These cats are really maverics of their instrument.

Larry Graham, Vic Bailey and Pino round out my top 5.

Believe itr!!  You know that really cool pulsating bass line with the heavy delay that you can hear on One of These days?  Thats Roger!  He wasn't a very technical bass player, but he knew how to create mood and was probably the first guy to ever use a tape delay pedal for bass in that kind of way.

Yup, I know where you are coming from.  The Relic series from Fender is an utter rip off!  They are essentially new instruments made to look like old ones and they still charge you the vintage mark up.  I couldn't care less how genuine they look, they are ridiculously over priced.  I have never played either a guitar or bass Relic that was worth parting all that money for.  Just look for an original Fender vintage guitar or bass and pay the same or even less than a Relic.  At least you can plug into your amp with the knowledge that you have got the real McCoy in your hands and not a fake!

Anybody listen to the cut on Victor Wooten's Soul Circus CD where he's callin' out bass players?  That joint is slammin' AND it mentions so many great bass players.  The first few times I listened to it, I was like "Oh yeah, he badd! Oh yeah him, too.  Wow,  almost forgot about him, but he's awesome"  If you haven't heard it, you owe it to yourself.

Peace,
James
Yeah I heard it.  He mentioned someone that I never hear any bass players talk about and that's Tommy Sims who is basically a pocket player, but is one of the BEST producers living on the planet.  I recommend his "Peace & Love" CD to anyone who loves music, regardless of his/her instrument.

Far too many to say who is the VERY best.  I like everybody listed thus far.  I will add Geddy Lee, Francis "Rocco" Prestia, Chuck Rainy.  Oh my goodness, Oteil Burbridge.  If I could pick 2 bass players to clone together and I could somehow become the player of their styles combined, I would have to say Nathan East and Willie Weeks.  I am not ashamed to say I wish I could just become Willie and play everything like him.  Nathan, wow you talk about a paycheck.  No, I am not money hungry, but that cat not only can play, but he has made a lot of money with his studio as well as touring work.  I said this somewhere else on this site, but please, please, please check out Willie Weeks on Donny Hathaways "Young Gifted & Black".  I became a Nathan fan from his work on Anita Baker's "Giving You the Best That I Got" CD.  Check out his String Bass work on "Good Enough" and when I heard "Talk To Me" from her Compositions CD, I was a Nathan fan for life.  The whole "Compositions" CD is awesome.  I love this site.  God bless all of you.  You all have givin me motivation to start practicing more.
