I need you now--Smokey Norful
« on: June 24, 2006, 02:47:26 PM »
Can someone who's played "I need You now" post the chords please. I just don't have the time to transcribe it right now.

Thanks....It's the song that starts out...Not a second..It's by Smokey Norful.

For some reason or another these chords don't sound right.

After going through and playing the original posted chords, everything sounds good to me.  I saw a few things I may have done differently with some chords and there looks be a typo on 1 (see Below) but the chords are correct.  The larger chords in the original post are not to be played by just hitting the chord, try to roll through the chord (Appregio) with your own feel.

I Need You Now - Smokey Norfield
Key of Ab

Db/FBbCEb
Eb/GBEb  Leave the F in the right hand out if it doesn't sound right to you.
FEb/GAbBbEb - I may have played the F with Eb in bass, but thats personal preference.

or try it like this, chord inversions.

Db/CEbFAb
Eb/EbFGBb
F/EbGAbC

- Need you to make away
AbEbGb/BbDbGbbAb - as - Try this chord here
I actually like the chord below in the original post better
Ab/GbACF - as

Here is turn around, Chorus, and Bridge the way I would play it, but chords on other post were fine.
- I STRETCH MY
DbAb/CEbFAb - HAND TO
CAb/BbEbAb - THEE

,/Ab, /F, /Eb, /C, - Riff or Roll into Below
BbFAb/Db - COME RESCUE
,/Eb, /F, CAbBb/Eb - ME        (C#/Bb Eb Ab - ME - C# should be C on original post, probably typo)

,/Ab, DAbC/DFBb - I NEED       (D F#/C F Bb - F# should be F)
,/C, Eb/DbFAbBb - YOU RIGHT
,/G - A--
Ab/CEbAb - WAY

- I
Eb/GbBbDbF - NEED
Ab/GbBbCF - YOU

For the purpose of the chords sounding and flowing as you hear the song, I will leave the melody note on top, but it doesn't always have to played this way.
               (Original Post on earnestandroline.com Above)
Db/AbCEbF - Now               C# Ab/F Bb C Eb - NOW
Eb/AbDbF - filler
(Hold Eb)/AbDbF, (Hold Eb)/GBbEb I Need      Eb/Ab C C# F - I NEED
(Hold Eb)/FAbDb - You            Eb/G C C# F - YOU
Ab/GbBbCEb - Now            Ab/G Bb C Eb - NOW

(Hold Ab)/Eb, (Hold)/EAbBbDb - Filler
,(Hold)/Bb, (Hold)/EbGBbC - Filler

,/Eb - I               - I
GF/GBbDbF - Need            G/F Bb C# - NEED (same chord different voice)
C/BbDbEG - You                C/E G Bb C# - YOU (same)
F/CEbAb- Now               F/Eb G Ab C - NOW

E/CEAb - (filler)            E/E G Bb C#
Eb/CEbAb - (filler)            F/Eb G Ab C (I would use Eb/ here in bass)
D/CDFAb - (filler)

D or Bb/CDFAb, /G, /Ab - I Need You      - I NEED YOU
Gb/DbFAbBb - Now            F#/F Ab Bb C# - NOW
E/BbDbEAb - (filler)            E/E Ab Bb C# (same)
Eb/DbEbFAb - (filler)            Eb/G C C# F (different variation of root, but fits here)

I was going to go into the Bridge, but its pretty straight forward on original link and I think I covered it above. Hope this helps.

OK I think I gat it. Thing is I hadn't listened to the CD. I heard many people sing it. But after getting a copy of the CD cut it sounds like it and it's actually not as difficult as I thought. Just a few progressions.
