Well as a drummer, it would get in my way. So me and the pianist wear black slacks/suits.

no disrespect but this is a stupid topic  ;D heck no, Nnnnnnnnnooooooooo musician should wear a robe, they play for the whole church not just the choir but on the other hand they should not come in the church anyway especially if the instruments are dead smack in the front of the church

At my home church, where I am one of the musicians, I have my own robe, but find it to be very hot and heavy to my arms when trying to play.  So I have an outfit that is the same color as the robes and wear it
when we travel.

For very special occasions, I try to wear the robe.
Besides the robe is a decoration, it is the individual that gives the service.
Always remember that God looks at the heart and if our service is for real; Man looks at the decoration.

does wolfy like to wear robes? No.

Does wolfy wear robes because that's what the Pastor requires? Yes.

My take is, if that's what the set man/woman of God mandates, then i follow suit. I'm there to serve.

For the sake of uniformity, then robes should be worn; however, from a more practical perspective, it is very hot and cumbersome to play in robes. ;D ;D
Go with God, cause He always goes with you.
