God uses us and our instruments as instruments to minister to his people. One of the most POWERFUL songs I was allowed to play was a rendition of "We Fall Down" by Donnie McKurklin. I played the solo on my Trombone (Shaquita: thats my horn's name) and was accompanied by my brother on drums at a Youth Convention in North Carolina. These folks were trying to act all dignified, sidity, booshi, or what ever you want to call it but when that Anointing began to flow through that place them "negros" began to holla, scream, and shout and give HIM the praise as if they was in their own chuirch and not in a ballroom at a Convention.

That was when I began to understand the power of the ministry of Music, even if there are no words attached to the harmonic notes!

God is Good,God is Love!!!

i was thinking of playing Total Praise - Richard Smallwood.  Do ya'll think that would be a good choice to play...

Definitely!!!!!  I heard a gospel violinist do a version of it, and it was on time man.
I'd rather be imperfectly inspired, than to be perfectly entertained...

There are probably more sophisticated pieces I've played that were very powerful songs, but I think hands down it goes back to Amazing Grace.  That song speaks to everyone...it has such a universal anointing to it, that few folks hear it without being moved.

An early favorite, when I started playing at church is and still is Who Is Like The Lord.  I  just love Israel's stuff, period.  Lately, Clint Brown's I Worship You has been singing to me.
It's on tha way...

That's a hard question.  I'd have to say when we recorded the "Cover the Earth" CD with Israel Houghton, (Live at Lakewood), that whole service was the most powerful worship I've ever experienced.  We could hardly play our horns.  It may sound old fashioned, but the song "Because He lives" has always touch my heart.  "I really enjoyed "You are Good!" too.  If you get the chance, listen to track 16 on Ken Reynolds latest CD.  That's the funnest solo I've ever played, (tpt).

Wow.  I really can't narrow that down to one song.  I'll give you a few:

The Lord is Blessing Me (Oldie)

His Eyes on the Sparrow

I Will Trust in the Lord (until I Die)

My Soul Is Anchored in the Lord (Douglas Miller Oldie)

Yes, Lord Hymn

I guess you can tell I like old stuff....lol

I am enjoying Angella Christie's CD "Breath of Life"!  all of the songs on there are awesome.  The most recent one I've been learning on alto sax is "Like the Dew".  I love it!!!
