I would love to have that song, too, if you wouldn't mind.

This has been nick named the Mikey song in my church. We play the Darrell Evans version. I've heard about the Isreal one but never heard. I wonder what makes them different.

If you go to GospelKeyboard.com they have a instructional video showing you how to do the solo part of the Isreal version. To me it is slightly different than the way Terrance Palmer does it but you will get the idea of what it is by the video. The main part of the song is: (In Eb on a 5-String)

G:------------------------
D:------------------------
A:------------3--3---1--
E:-----3--4--------------
B:--4---------------------

Hope that helps.
Acts 4:12

The Israel Houghton version follows the same chord structure, but it's a lot more fun to play on the bass. The bassist basically outlines the chord for each change by playing I-V-VII-IX with a few embellishments each time around. At least, that's the way I hear it. It's also a little slower than the Darrel Evans/Michael Gungor version and the bass and the brass make the entire song sound more jazzy and just all-around funkier.

Man, the Evens version calls for the bass to slol double stops through all the verses, I find that very fun. Best of all I know the song forwards and back. I can only say that about 3 other Chirstian songs and maybe 5 secular songs.

he got the gist of that intro part, but he didnt have the percussion which really makes it shine. its not easy to make a smooth percussive line without it being dull or sounding like ur just banging.
For my God... let "Golden Axe" prevail.
