I have searched everywhere for the chords to “Rough Side of the Mountain” ; We are playing at an orphanage in Hungry on Thanksgiving and would like our P/W team to do this song.  Also looking for “Lord help me to hold out”.

You know you really shouldn't be playing or singing this song.  It's not a bad song, it is a song that doesn't make any sense.  Why would you go up the rough side of a mountain when you have the power to tell the mountain to move out of your way?  Just think about it!!!

That makes sense, you could be using the strength to do something more important. I just took it as the mountain being the trials and tribulations that we call life as a follower of Christ. I figured that the mountain was representative of the hardships that one endures when he or she confesses that they are a follower of Christ because once that is done, they are made targets for the devil and also for God to test their faith. I see reaching the top of the mountain as reaching every christians ultimate goal, which is Heaven.

PERSONALLY,

THIS SONG IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE.  IT IS A PRAYER TO THE LORD AND A SLAP IN THE DEVILS FACE TO LET HIM KNOW THAT HE MAY GET US DOWN, BUT WE ARE NOT QUITTING. 

I GREW UP IN A CHURCH WHERE THIS SONG WAS SUNG BY A PARTICULAR MAN AND IT WAS A GREAT ENCOURAGEMENT TO FOLKS.   WHEN HIS WIFE DIED OF AN ANEURYSM RIGHT IN CHURCH, THIS MAN GOT UP AT HIS WIFE'S FUNERAL AND SANG THIS SONG.   BOY, DID IT REALLY HOLD SOME MEANING THEN.
