sorry I haven't posted in such a long time! I have been busy with church, and piano lessons. I've recently gotten a new piano teacher, and this is something I learned about augmented chords, maybe someone can find it useful! The formula for an augmented chord is 1-3-5#, and is usually indicated by a + sign after the chord. So an E augmented would look like
E+ One way to place this chord is when going from a I-III-VI, you could use the augmented chord on the III
Here is an example using "Oh, how I love Jesus" The chords are just basic, you could voice them how you wanted to.
LH/RH
C/CEG........ Oh,
E/DG#C.....How (this is the augmented)
......I love (still holding same chord)
A/ACE.....Je-
G/ACE.....sus
D/FAC......Be-
E/CEG....cause
F/FAC......he
G/CEG.....first
G/FAC......loved
C/CEG.....me
..................................
I hope I explained this right, I need to start recording my piano lessons cause I am forgetful. This is just one example, I'm sure there are other places you can use this chord, but this is all I know so far. It may not work in all songs, just experiment and use your ear to judge! If I have made a mistake, please correct me! I'm not very good at explaining things clearly!
