OOOOHHHHHH, those kits are beautiful.  Excuse me while I gently weep.................. :'( :'(

Alright, I'm OK now.

So the Exports are maple now.  I guess maple is not as "exotic" as it once was now that they have the Masterworks series.  My kit is birch.  I think it's a more versatile wood.  But that's just me.  I hate to hear about the satin hardware.  I was gonna get some.  I thought the satin finish was kinda dope.  Maybe I can finally convince my best friend to go ahead and get an Export kit for his studio so I don't have to lug my stuff over there anymore.

I just wish someone would invent self-assembling drum kits.  Something like the Transformers.  I'll buy two.

...obviously.

... okay so like I stated earlier, the Session Series is discontinued.  What happened was that the Session Series was really a Masters without the Die Cast Hoops and all the higher end hardware so Pearl has now upgraded the Session kit to the all new Masters MCX.  The Vision Series kit is now taking over the EX and EXP Model.  It is a Birch/Basswood drum and they are being manufactured over in Pearl's new China Factory.  I guess they get more work for less money. :-\

...Alright, enough of Pearl.  I want to see what PDP has in stock. ;D

And, the Sessions outer ply of Maple is the inner ply of the Masters shell's ply.  The Masters finish is much more extensive than the Sessions.

Also, I wouldn't say that Maple isn't exotic (it never was) - there are different grades of Maple, and the best is definitely not being used on the lower end Pearl, PDP or Yamaha sets.

...buzz, the Sessions kit is a 6ply All Maple drum.  The inner, middle and outer plies are all 100% Maple and not the cheap Maple either.  I play a Session SMX (Maple) in a Cherry Wood fade and the wood grain on it is beautiful and it looks just like the Masters.  Like I stated before, the Masters kits have Die Cast Hoops and some higher end hardware.  The Sessions Series and Masters use "the same shell".  Trust me, I know. ;)

It looks just like it, but it isn't the same finish.  :)

It's the finishing process that are different. Masters uses a more elaborate UV super hi-gloss finish on the Masters line vs the gloss finish Pearl does on the Session series.

Addendum: I'm not comparing the MCX and the MMP finishes, just for clarification.  I am comparing the Masters and Sessions finishes.   ;D

You're envious huh?  Just imagine living in Nashville like me, and the NAMM moving to Austin, TX after all of these years because it outgrew the convention center.  I was devastated when I first heard this news.  I loved going to NAMM.  Me and all of my musician buddies would get together and take over the place.

On another note......

Why would someone put spinners on a drum kit?  I'm hoping it's just novelty and strictly for display.

I am digging that gold kick pedal. I see that pic of Cora Coleman-Dunham to the left of that pedal.  She is so cute....and married)

More Pearl pics please?  And how can you have a gallery of drum kits and not have any pics of............................
