Just play.

That's it.  When I was 12 and 13 I would play 4 hours a day, and it sounded horrible, but it developed eventually.  If you just give yourself a good 1/2 hour a day, you can be a relatively proficient guitarist in a couple of years.  I started whole-heartedly when I was 12, and was able to pick out some leads by 14.

Just play, and love to play.  Also, if you are playing for God, pray.  He'll increase your skill.  Unfortunately I did not know that 10 years ago, but He has really helped me step in to my position at church, and I'm playing things that a blues-rocker shouldn't know how to play.

Stick with it.  It will come.

...FIND SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS GREAT TO YOU...AND PRACTICE IT UNTIL YOU HAVE IT DOWN....WHEN YOU PRACTICE...STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU HAVE IT!....AND SEPERATE YOUR PRACTICE TIME.....TAKE 10 MINUTES TO JUST GET GOOD AT ONE THING...DONT STRAY FROM IT...DONT BE DISTRACTED BY THE REPETITION!...STICK TO SOMETHING TILL YOU GET IT RIGHT
