I have a set of Pearl (Drums), along with their hardware and a signature snare.  I think that they are top notch drums and the build quality is on point.  Look at the small details (on the high end stuff, that is), like the tension rods and the brass receiver.  The small details are what I appreciate about them.  As for everyone else, I can't answer for them, but they'll chime in sooner or later.

Lol. You're too much.

MikeLove, what Pearl kit are you thinking about? Tell us that, and I am sure you will get much more responses.

Oh yeah, you're in the house!  Anything in the high end range are great.  Better, on the other hand is subjective.

I think I'm hooked on Pearl...I sold my Session kit and have been missing it for the last year....I got some DWs, which are great drums, but they are not fulfilling my crave (sound, durability, and feel) like Pearl......I'm going back home to Pearl.....

...Pearl's New Premium Maple kit in 6ply or 4ply is great.  The all New MCX is another good kit.  (Sessions kit on Barry Bonds Juice.)

...The Reference is what it is.  Pearl's hardware is Top 2 in the drum makers world.

...so to finalize, you can't go wrong with Pearl.  I mean, their Artist Roster will let you know that.  From Heavy Metal to straight ahead Jazz....they're great.

Pearl Reference is a great choice. Any High end kit is a great choice. Is one brand better than another? as j_kay said, thats subjective. Depends on who you ask. When getting a High end kit, you already know its going to be good. So look at the small minute details that will set it apart from the others.
