Let This Mind be in You...
Dr. Frederick K.C. Price

The Lord tells us in Philippians 2:5, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.  There are two possible mindsets for us to have:  One is the mind of Christ, and the other is the mind of Satan.  Whose mind do you have?

Let's go to the Bible to see what it says about the mind of Christ.  Luke 19:9-10 says: And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a Son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come TO SEEK AND TO SAVE THAT WHICH WAS LOST [emphasis mine]."

That is the mind of Christ-"To seek and to save that which was lost."  As a part of the Body of Christ, we have a job to do in seeking the lost.  Many Believers have been lax in fulfilling their job assignment.  This may be because they don't know what their job assignment is.

Ephesians 4:11-12: And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers.  [These are the fivefold ministry gifts.]

Notice the word S-O-M-E.  So not all Christians are called to the fivefold ministry.  When something is given, there usually is a reason for the giving.   Jesus gave the fivefold ministry gifts: "for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."

The word saint comes from the Greek word "hageo," which has three aspects to its meaning:  The Physical aspect, which literally means to be "pure," the Moral aspect, which means to be "blameless or religious," and the Ceremonial aspect which means to be "consecrated or set apart".  If you have received Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you are a saint.

In John 14, Jesus said that He was going back to heaven and that when He left, those that believed would not only do the works He had done, but they would do greater works.  Not greater in quality, but greater in quantity because there are more of us to do the work of the Lord.  We are His Body in the earth realm.  Jesus is in heaven interceding on our behalf, as our High Priest.  And, He is expecting us to continue His work.  Unfortunately, too many Christians have gotten caught up in the possession of things and the fallout that comes from having possessions.

But the truth is that the only hands that Jesus has in the earth realm are the hands of the saints-the Christians.   Our lips are the only lips that Jesus has to speak through.  Our feet and legs are the only feet and legs to do missions of mercy for those for whom Christ died.

In Ephesians 4:12-15, we see why the Lord gave us the ministry gifts: "for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man [meaning a mature man], to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head -Christ."

All this is very true, but I really want to zero in on Ephesians 4:16: from whom the whole body [not part of the body, not some of the body, but the whole body], joined and knit together by what every joint supplies....

As a Christian, a saint, you are a joint, and you have something to supply.  When you take the time to find out what you are supposed to be supplying, it is only then that you will come to the full realization of what life is all about and then be able to really enjoy it.

There is a great spiritual work still to be done, which only the joints can do.  It is not just about going to church on Sundays.  That is good, because you should attend church every Sunday.  But church is a refueling station.  That is why the pastor needs to teach and not just preach, so Believers can learn how to be about their Father's business in seeking and saving the lost.  No, everyone is not called to ministry, but everyone is called to preach.

Every Christian is a preacher.  To preach means to "verbally proclaim" to share the gospel.  That is your assignment to seek and save the lost.
