Must have albums
« on: January 23, 2008, 09:45:39 AM »
I am looking for a few must have albums that these drummers played on:

Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones, and Jimmy Cobb.

I would appreciate any suggestions as well as why you feel they are a must have.  Thanks

...Max Roach - "Birth of Cool" Artist - Miles Davis, "Drums Unlimited", "Brown and Roach", "The Max Roach Trio", "Jazz in 3/4 Time", "Studio in Brown", "Clifford Brown and Max Roach".

Elvin Jones' "Jazz Machine", "Live at the Village Vanguard", "It don't mean a thing", "Illumination", "The Truth: Heard Live at the Blue Note [LIVE]"

Jimmy Cobb, "West of 5th", "Only for the Pure Heart".

Philly Joe Jones, "Philly Joe's Beat-Philly Joe & Elvin Jones Together", "Blues for Dracula", "Showcase", "Steaming with the Miles Davis Quintet", "Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet", "Blue Train" (John Coltrane)

...there you go.  Pick 'em up and find out for yourself. ;)
