Where do I start? Drums: Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Dave Garibaldi, Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham, Steve Smith, Omar Hakim, Carter Beauford, Neil Peart, Derrico Watson, Poogie Bell, Chris Coleman, Marvin McCuitty, Calvin Rodgers and of course there are more, but I am having a mental block right now. I am not drummer, but I am a former BASSON player who started playing bass 4 years ago. And of course I obviously LOVE music. I know that some of the drummers I listed above may not be familiar to some of you, but when you get some down time PLEASE try to check out some of those cats. Dave Garibaldi is a funk rhythm master. Most of his work is with a 70's funk band called "Tower of Power". Some of the songs that you might want to check out are "Knock yourself out", "What is hip", "Oakland Stroke" and "Soul Vaccination". Billy Cobham is a living legend in the jazz fusion arena, Buddy Rich is one of the most rudimetally sound drummers I have ever heard. Carter Beauford plays in the "Dave Matthews Band" and Neil Peart plays for a Canadian Rock band that has been recording for 3 decades called "Rush". Rush has recorded so many songs, but I would recommend a song called "YYZ" and "Tom Sawyer" to get an idea of his style and technique. I know that this post was mad long, thank you for your time.
