WHATS UP! WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS DOES ANYONE KNOW:

1. THE NAMES OF THE STRINGS ON THE BASS GUITAR

It depends on how many strings your bass has. I'll break down the 4, 5 and 6-string notes going from lowest (thickest) to highest (thinnist):

4-string:  E  A  D  G
5-string:  B  E  A  D  G
6-string:  G  B  E  A  D  G

I think there is a 7-string bass out to and I guess the lowest string on it would be a D.

Also, each fret on the bass is just like a half step on the piano.

chuckb, you might be right about the 6-string bass notes. I have never actually played a 6-string bass before so I could be wrong.

My friend has a 7-string bass. It's a 6 string with an added high F, I believe.  It's pratically a half guitar/half bass.

I have a seven string and it is tuned BEADGCF IN FOURTH

I've heard of 10-string basses, and I think there are 12-strings also. From what I hear there are basses with more notes on them than a piano has, some notes going so low you can hear the frequency going back and forth. The most that I'd ever play is 6 though.

i've seen a 12-string at the music store... of course it's stringed like a 12-string acoustic
