Movable or standard chords?
« on: September 19, 2004, 04:28:02 PM »
I'm wondering, since I'm just learning, would it be better for me to learn more movable chords first than standard ones?

....LEARNING IS LEARNING!.....I ASSUME THE STANDARD CHORDS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT ARE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE NECK!....YOU WILL NOT USE THOSE MUCH AT MOST BLACK GOSPEL CHURCH SERVICES....MANY COUNTRY ROCK AND POP SONGS DO USE THEM A LOT!....THEY ARE VERY EASY TO LEARN....SO LEARN THEM!....KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!....WWW.URIAHSMUSIC.COM

Movable or standard chords?

Your standard chords (also called open chords) are easier to get your fingers used to.  I almost think it's a prerequisite to learning your barre (moveable) chords.

Like, Uriah said, you won't really use them a lot in gospel, but it's good to know as much as possible.  It also just gets you used to the placement of the notes on the neck (but playing bass, you already know that, you just have 2 more strings to work with).
