Ahhhhhhhhhhhh yes!!! Also, my boy Steve Williams of Bobby Jones Gospel will be performing for the Ddrum booth on Friday. So check him out too!! :)

Thanks J_kay!  I was just about to upgrade to all yamaha hardware too!  Now I'll just wait for the upgrades to arrive in stores!

Fish here, with a report from NAMM 2008... So far so good. Friday was my first day there, I'll be there Saturday but i'm not sure I'll make it on Sunday, we'll see.
So, you guys were right this place is overwhelming... there's no possible way to see it all... I'll have pictures for you soon, probably by the end of this weekend... Saw Nisan S, Aaron S, Tony Royster Jr, Steve Smith, Marvin "Smitty, and a bunch of rock drummers that i like as well. Like I said, I'll have pics and maybe some vids as well.
Hey if anyone else has pictures yet i'd love to see 'em... I'm sure I didn't everything...

"The PHX (or Phoenix) range is the new high end kit, coming in above the Absolute range. The shell are come in two styles – maple or ash – with a hybrid shell mixing Jatoba, Kapur and maple and the ash outer ply. The shells have the very hard Jatoba in the middle with the hardness gradually diminishing as the plies go out to the maple (not a soft wood by any stretch of the imagination) on the outer and inner faces. I am faced with loads of scientific data explaining why Yamaha have gone for this shell make up, which I will come to in the big write up. The drums also have a new design of quick release lugs (different from the Absolute Nouveau) and a new YESS mounting system made from wood (yes, really). As I said, these drums are ultra high end so they priced accordingly."

"The PDP Platinum series is made in Mexico and has a new lug like a mini swivel nut tube lug, and replaces the older PDP drums. The X7 kit gets more colo(u)rs, has the old style PDP lug and is still made in China."
