Gospel Chord Sequences HELP required
« on: August 16, 2003, 05:19:30 PM »
Hi all.  I am a musician/composer of musical theatre and am researching Gospel music as I need to use this style in a project I am currently working on.

Although I enjoy gospel music I find it very difficult to identify chord sequences.....this is not only in Gospel Music.  Can someone tell me if there is such a thing as a 'norm' when it comes to sequences.  For instance a Big Band sequence would be something like C, C#dim, Dm G7. etc....try it and you'll see it have that big band feel......can anyone suggest a sequence that will immediately invoke a gospel style feel?

Many thanks in anticipation.

your response is to big.  Black gospel music has so many different like styles within itself.  The biggest would be traditional and contemporary.  But I have heard them played within themselve so different, that all I can say is the options are endless. lol.  But be more detailed.
